Narvik Shields, Need some help

Hi All

Beyond the Krim Shield Im no good with these. These were bunked on the forum 1 week ago and I accepted that.

Now the problem is I have 2 German collectors here who claim these are good. Not novices in the least and we are having a small debate on these. All I have found to bunk them is to much detail in the flowers and that they are non magnetic.

Please help me with more details to close ths debate once and for all

Hi Dion,
Missed the bit where you asked for some explanation.
The first shield (silver grade) is a well discussed shield and is the so called small "4" fake. This shield is based on an original which is the so called Deschler shield.
Only recently (when I was doing some research for by Armshield book) I discovered that the maker for this type of shield was in fact not Deschler but most provably another manufacturer.

The second shield (golden grade) is sold by Herr Floch and I presume doesn't need anymore explanation.

Now these are some of the reasons why I am convinced that these shields are 100% fake. Please can you or these German collectors now explain to me why these shields are original?

Well I would say its time I studied up on these, Ill start with the small 4 fakes. I do take it most unmagenetic ones are bad with only a couple exceptions.

Unfortunately Herr Floch is also into shields. Most of his reproduction shields are easy to recognise but the Cholm shield by Floch is really superb and would fool most collectors.

To complicate matter, to my knowledge there are no original magnetic Narvik shields.

Well actually not so bad. The Germans are argueing that both shelds are unmagnetic and still fine,,I have the quote "total BS".

Iam way over it MRG, I moved on in about 15 minutes Its just the 2 collectors that are losing it on me like Im responsile for the entire militaria forums on the net.
