    Sorry, but I believe this to be a fake Narvik Shield. This type has been around for many years, and they have fooled a great deal of collectors, myself included. I had the gold colored (Kriegsmarine) version of this very shield in my collection. I thought it was real for a long time. I learned the truth about this type of fake several years ago, thanks to this forum.

      I agree with Tom, this shield is a fake.
      The shield is, just as I thought, a Floch fake.

        I bought the same fake as well. Lucky for you, you can return it. I bought mine while on vacation at an antique store. So I just had to eat it. Oh well, live and learn. Thank goodness for the experts on this site for their assistance and knowledge!!!

            No good Mike, sorry.

            I see this is another one of those with the fake wear applied to the surface highlights. Is that brass base metal coming through the finish?

            Correct me if I am wrong, but were these original shields ever made from brass stock? I didn't think so.
