    Narvik Shield

    Hello,
There are things about the shield I do not like (soft details), then there are things I like (the finish). Now I have read it is in steel. That is a tricky one. I would have to see it in person to make a final opinion.

    Regards,
    Jody

Just getting back to this today.

I am with Jody, I would really have to hold it and see it first hand. Even then??

But, as Philippe said, if they applied a copper coating (and you can see copper on the high spots) to a steel shield so the gilding finish took better, then it would not be something I would expect fakers to go to the trouble or extent of processing on a current reproduction IMO.

I was not aware these Narviks were ever made in steel, though Krim and Kuban shields were. Could these "possibly" be very early versions and the copper coating also helped prevent oxidation due to the salt air enviornments for navy personnel? Just thinking aloud here...

I know; then why haven't we seen them before this?

Are the top prongs located correct? Seem to me as if they are a little high, mine are located lower than these.
