I'm no expert but here are some observations:
Weak details to the eagle's feathers
Pitting on the front

Is it magnetic and is that rust on it?

Thanks for the reply. I agree the details on the eagle do look poor or well worn. The shield is magnetic. It looks like someone in the past tried to clean it up causing the wear 'clean looking' areas. I don't see any visible rust, but one can see the 'bumpy' areas in the creases or along the edges.

Darn my bad luck, back it goes to the vendor for a refund. I'm sure having bad luck lately with stuff. At least I'm getting my money back. Thanks for the help.

Beak on the eagle looks funky too. Todd, try to post your stuff on here before you buy if you can. Saves a lot on shipping (and usually hassle, lot of these guys selling fakes are a royal pain to get refunds out of--trust me I know).

Trust me, I will post here before buying. This piece came from Weitze, and is going back to Weitze (well, went back already).

IMO the shield as shown by Todd is not a fake but an original Kuban shield. However the backing of this shield didn’t existed on original examples. This type of shield only existed with tabs.

So I think we have here an original shield with broken off tabs and someone but on a new backing with prongs to raise the price .

Even at the first glance you notice that the new backing doesn’t match the worn obverse.

To bad Todd already sent the shield back otherwise he could have checked if there were indeed traces of broken of tabs.
