Note the Shield appears new, not cut form tunic or similar, the back iI cut to pose. many thanks for your ideas on this Demjansk

Hi Cosimo,
I have no problems with this shield and I think it is original.
However having holes in this shield with a perfect backing doesn’t make any sense to me.
Holes in a shield normally indicate that during wear the shield came lose and with help of holes was sewn back again on the uniform.

With your shield it looks like the shield had a rough live which doesn’t agree with the mint backing. A logical explanation for your shield would be that the backing has been replaced.

if it is an original. and after your opinion I am happy to think this ,

This had left me very interdicted, the whole thing it not have many sense, if the cloth backing it is original, I not to know this, the all thing it is very curious rather. after all the Schild appears in excellent conditions except for the holes.....
