I wish that badge wasn't with the SB and WP, i would have bought the group then. Who knows, i have seen this style before though. What i don't know is whether this style of badge was manufactured in the reservation this unit was interned at.

BTW, much more interesting than the badge is the unit the soldier was with. Gebirgs nebelwerfer abteilung 10 was the only unit of it's kind in the wehrmacht.

Always that I see a Lappland shield it presents a format or different material. Is there some rule of this type? Which material is considered the correct one for this shield?

The Lapplandshield was never taking into production. It was up to the recipient to make his own. So any material would do.

The only standard pattern was the post-war '58 pattern. As Pascal says everything from the summer of '45 was home made in the various reservations around Norway some were undoubtedly made by the individuals. Others though were made in what you could i suppose call some kind of production run, either by a specific unit or by a reservation, or group of reservations in a similar area that would include several different units with soldiers entitled to the award. To my knowledge no one has thus far done any kind of research to try and establish types attributed to units or geographical areas. I've done some work in this respect with the award documents but not the badges themselves.

I've only seen 2 photos thus far of the badge in wear and both show a similar cast alluminium type, quite bright too

Posted schild looks a like the official design that was made and actually paper with picture of it handed to the soldiers. Looks nice!

That's not surprising Jani seeing as they based their home made designs on that picture. Based on the amount seen i would suggest that the paper picture you refer to was not commonly handed out to individuals, perhaps to some of those in Southern Norway around the Lillehammer area as that was where army HQ was. It's also the area you see that same design on the award docs.

I agree thought that this is one of the nicer better made ones.
