    Demjansk Shield Overload

    hi everyone,

I just got this Demjansk shield today and was comparing it too the ones shown on previous threads. It differs slightly from all the known originals posted previousily, but that may be because of photography etc. I did find a mint one posted by Pascal thats pretty close.I didn't post the comparison since I'm not sure he would be okay with it. The shield I have is worn and it appears to be natural. Anyway please take a look at it and give me your impressions.WR Jim

                    Hi Jim,
This is a very nice worn Demjansk shield and without a doubt 100% original.
This shield is identical the mint one you have found from me on the forum.
I have no problems if you are using my pictures on this forum.
What I don’t like is that some people using my pictures as theirs on other forums or even worse, some discoveries which I made during the years calling theirs in publications!!

Back to the shield, nice original and also a very interesting shield as this type of shield you normally find with tabs instead of prongs like yours. I only know of one other (in my collection) with prongs instead of tabs. On my shield you can still see were the tabs used to be. I don’t know if the prongs were attached later or that they were attached at the factory and that they just used the “tabs” die.

Can you please do me a favour and have a close look at your shield if you can find traces were the tabs used to be?
I’ll attach some pictures so you know where and what to look for.

                        hi Pascal,

Thanks very much for the information. I appreciate your comments on your photos. Most of the members don't have a problem with other members using their pics as long as its on this forum. Others are pretty touchy about it.Just didn't want to ruffle any feathers.

I checked my shield closely and it doesn't appear to have had tabs. I went ahead and took the shield apart to take some pics for you. It went back together with no problem.

                        WR Jim
