    Krim shields question

    Hi,

I have 2 Krim shields but only want to be keeping one, my problem is I am not sure which is the one I should keep. Both have been given the thumbs up as original here previously.

The first one is complete with paper, cloth and metal backing but is not a well detailed Krim shield, whereas the other is better detailed but missing the backing material although someone has attached a bit of backing cloth to it.

Can I get some advice about which is the better one to keep on the basis of value. Also what would be a reasonable percentage difference in price between a complete badge and an incomplete badge.

    Regards

    Steve

just looking at condition, i would keep the one without the backing. however, some people like the backing since it would be more difficult to find. i guess what im trying to say is that at the end of the day the decision is yours. just my two cents.

I would keep the first one posted. The second one probably came off a sample board.

                Hi Steve,
As you already said both shields are nice original shields. Which one to keep? I would say keep them both .

The lack of detail on the first one is typical for this type of shield and has nothing to do with condition of the shield.

                  Pascal give me a break.

                  Hi Pascal,

Thanks for helping me out with my dilemma . I traded the second Krim shield plus a Narvik shield as part of a deal for an M1916 never wanting to have 2 Krims, I was only really after the Narvik. I am only after a single sample of each award so I am wanting to sell or trade one of the Krims but am uncertain which is the best to keep from a value point of view. The 2nd Krim looks best to me as it is crisp in detail but I dont know how much missing the backing parts affects the desirability of the badge. I wouldn't have this problem if I was solely in to collecting Krims, PABs or IABs, etc, as you can develop a degree of expertise around relative merits and values, however being somewhat eclectic and wanting to get examples of most awards it will take me a lifetime to develop the knowledge required to know which is the best example.

                  Regards

                  Steve

                    You're welcome Steve .
As for a value point the first Krim shield is worth more as it is complete. As I said earlier the first shield is also in a very good condition because the lack of detail is typical for this type of shield.

                      Thanks Pascal,

I wasn't sure if having the backing in this instance made any difference to the respective values, so this is useful information.

                      Regards
