    Deumer Narvik shield on estand

    Hi Guys,

This one is on estand and I have said I will take it unless somebody else beat me to it. Just would like some 2nd opinions on the shield itself - all original? I assume that the backing plate is post-war. Thanks.

    Cheers, Tom

    Hi Tom,
This is an original Narvik shield attributed to Deumer. I also doubt if the backing plate is original.

Thanks Pascal. Much appreciated. Item has been bought and paid for and will hopefully soon join its colleagues in my collection.

I’ll agree with Pascal on this one.
Good shield but the backplate is not original.

It was just sold on Black Cross Militaria Collectables as a complete reproduction. Looks like Alden was wrong on this one.

            Hi Robert,

Thank you for posting this. This concerns me. As this indeed does appear to be the same shield including that little bend on the lower end of the left wing where it meets the stones and bogus back plate.

            Comments please.

            Thanks.

Well looks someone got lucky buying an original shield as a repro.

                Hi Guys,

Heard back from the estand seller. He was the one who bought the shield from Black Cross Militaria which was sold as a repro but, according to the estand seller, is in fact not a repro but an original - in other words the Black Cross Militaria dealer misidentified an original shield as a repro. Unless someone disagrees this shield is in fact an original as stated by Pascal, Andy and the estand seller.

                Cheers, Tom
