Unknown Medal, non-wearable

Does anybody have the same medal or something similar? Anybody who knows more about this medal than the inscription tells us?
The inscription on the reverse reads:
"EINZUG DER SIEGREICHEN SOLDATEN ADOLF HITLERS IN MÜHLDORF 17. JULI 1940"
("ADOLF HITLER´S VICTORIOUS SOLDIERS MARCH INTO MÜHLDORF JULY 17th 1940")

Sorry, I forgot to mention any measurements. I am not familiar with inches, it is about 6 centimeter in diameter (about the bottom of a small drinking glass).

Frank, Its a nicely executed piece, at a guess privately commisioned as a memento for the unit, by a senior (fairly wealthy) officer. There are a couple in the Dodkins books, I've got a similar WW1 medallion, they all seem to be pretty well the same size. Yours is nicely detailed though, look at the way the crowd has been depicted, excellent stuff !

I took a look through my list of divisional insignia and the crests on the back of your table medal do not match any of them. Possibly regimental crests?

I have a similar medal for a Gebirgsjager unit which shows a mountain boot on top of a map of Europe on one side and the other side is marked to II.79 Geb. Art. Rgt. plus a list of countires the unit served in. Starts with Polen and ends with Griechenland. It is a roughly made piece which appears to be made of aluminium.

Dear Gordon, C. Evans and Graham,

Thank you for those efforts. I have a theory regarding the crests now that I will take a deeper look into:

-If you take a look at the top center crest which clearly holds a special position, it resembles the big wheel of a watermill. The city´s name is MÜHLdorf which means something like (Water)milltown in English. The other crests could be those of important families or bishops that played a role in the cities past. I now guess these crests do not have any military link at all. They look kind of typical for old German city or family crests.

Yes, found the city Mühldorf am Inn on the web and their modern city logo still contains this watermill wheel. Mühldorf webpage
The tower on the medal is the "Nagelschmiedturm", oldest building in Mühldorf, built in 1218. For those of you who are also fascinated with this medal, I attached a picture that I found on the web which shows the city from above. If you take a close look, you can spot the tower of the medal in the upper left portion of that picture. You can also see the "broadway" leading from this gate through the old city core and with a little bit of imagination you can see the soldiers of the medal marching through that broad street!
