I had a very similar FCC silver CCC in my hands for a couple of days until I sent it back to one of our most liked dealers, who claims it is an original. I don´t doubt that, but I don´t like these later type cast FCC clasps. They are low in detail (especially noticable in the eagles breast and head), have a cast type reverse with crudely fixed catch (I don´t even think yours is field repaired). I couldn´t tell by the not too good picture on the dealer´s site, so I initially bought it. I got full refund upon return, no questions asked. Everybody has to decide if he accepts this type of FCC clasps as "good" or "bad". I at least considered it to be not "good enough" to be in my collection. No offense against your piece, it is certainly ok, there are just much more nicer FCC (and other maker´s ones) CCCs around. See also recent post in the research section about silver FCC CCCs, which gives you a clue about earlier type/different die FCC clasps.

      Frank,

This piece is not in my collection yet. But I agree with you. I have several CCCs in bronze and they look much better than this one. So I agree with you on all your points. It will be interesting to hear the opinions of all the other forum members.

I am not a big CCbt clasp fan, I have only a few, but that pin looks unlike any FLL pin I have on any of mine.

I hgink most "Gold" clasps themselves are original, maybe just not the color?

Why is the plate gold on this one as well?

There are more gold clasps floating around in the states than EK2s, 90% of which would be laughed out of any show in Germany.

Maybe this one is good, I dont know, but as I will never buy a top hook one, if I ever do buy a normal one it would be a Junker, as they supposudly made the 2nd pieces handed out at the hitler ceromonies, all the FLL, F&BL, etc. really dont get my crank turned.
