    Hello John,
If the case your talking about is black leatherette, then it is most likely for the Gold Wound Badge. I've seen Detlev Niemann sell cased Gold Wound Badges of early quality, manufactured by Hauptmuenzamt Wien, and they have been in the nice quality black boxes with the push button lock and the maker label on the bottom of the box. The Silver Wound Badges were usually issued in the paper envelope, or in the lesser-quality, burgandy-colored, cardboard box without a button lock. I have a Gold Wound Badge by Carl Wild of Hamburg, and a Silver Wound Badge by Klein & Quenzer, and both of these came in the same type of burgandy-colored cardboard box. I do have a very nice quality Gold Wound Badge by Hauptmuenzamt Wien, but unfortunately it came without a box. Best regards,
    Tom Yanacek
