    Hermann Wernstein Panzer Badge question

    Hello Everyone,

I recently picked up a Hermann Wernstein PAB, and what concerns me is the hinge and catch system. I believe its a reproduction but does anyone know if Hermann Wernstein had a cast -in hinge with thick needle pin?

    Thanks
    Jason

    Jason:

Werstein had a die stamped badge. THe hinge was a seperate piece altogether. It should be marked on the lef t side of the badge.

Mine is die stamped and the catch is not cast-in. It is seperate. As Kevin mentioned, it should be marked on the left side of the badge.

This is not the best looking badge , but it does show a typical Wernstein panzer badge hinge, pin and catch assembly. Scroll down the scan for close-ups. I've never seen a Wernstein badge of any type with "cast-in" assemblies. Most, if not all, of them have the type of hinge and catch as shown here.

            Hello Jason,

Can you post photos of the badge in question? If not email them to me and I will post them for you.

              Calvin,

Right now my digital camera is on the fritz and I am unable to post the pictures, otherwise I would. But from what I know, I can pretty much say that this badge is a fake. I do have a Hermann Wernstein IAB and it does have the attached hinge and clasp. On the PAB the marking is correct and in the correct area.

If I can get my camera to work I will post pictures, but I think I will return this peice regardless, some how it doesn't feel right.

              Thanks for all your replies.

              Jason
