    Unique KVK1????

Here's a really interesting and possibly unique piece........
Originally a wartime KVK2, it has been professionally re-worked to become a 57 style KVK1!!!!
A lot of work was involved here......
The suspension loop has been removed, and the entire central disc on the obverse side has been ground off, removing the Swastika and wreath, the area has then been polished.
Hardware has been added, consisting of a barrel hinge, soldered directly to the cross, a substantial pin with an extra piece to act as a rest, and a thick, flatwire catch, again soldered onto the cross arm!
The whole cross has then been silver coated, or dipped, to give a very smooth and even finish!!!
Why so much trouble has been spent on this, I can only guess at???
Age-wise, I would think it was done around the time 57ers were first introduced, and could pre-date them??
Here are some photo's of the KVK, including some close-ups of the hardware etc.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this one!!!!

There certainly is a lot of work gone into that cross . I'd have it in my collection

        Thanks guys!!
I have placed it in the middle of my KVK collection.
Apart from this KVK1, and a couple of Souval's with the re-worked cores, the rest are all "proper" 57er's...except one!!!
        Can you spot the imposter????
        I'll give you a clue......its a 2nd class!!!

Hey Nigel, I love it !!!

In 57ers there are sometimes unique, interesting diamonds - this piece is one of them!
