    Question about denazified EKs

Were East German soldiers who fought in WW2 given some form of denazified Iron Cross, were they allowed to wear their original cross, or were they taken away all together?

I don't think any form of Third Reich decoration was allowed in the DD R, many vets only bought 57ers after unification

This chap is indeed asking a very good question ...

But I think Nigel hits the nail on its head ... we haven't seen any denazified nor 57er badges on DDR medal bars.
Believe only BRD were allowed to pin their 57ers onto their official uniforms.
However, with RK meetings and so on, probably some of them did wear their wartime KC's.
