      Hello,
yes, it is a Souval wound badge, but I think it's a denazified afterwar example - take a closer look at the helmet.

      best regards

Thanks. I did see the marks on the helmet but would this mean that the badge was re-finished after that? The finish does not look a DIY job to me. I have shown a similar badge here, this is the 2nd example. Does that mean that Souval perhaps denazified Wound Badges and applied proper finish afterwards?

The scratch marks on the helmet, must be from the removal of the Swastika, but the Gold finish has been applied after the removal, so factory done by Souval..
We have seen this before, on many war and qualification badges by Souval, where the Swastika has been sawn off, but the Gold or Silver finish has been applied afterwards!!
Souval did make a "proper" 57 version of the WB, as well as de-Nazifying post-war made Swastika bearing examples!!

Definitely a factory modified piece with remains of the original factory gold finish. A nice WB.
Souval modified remaining wartime stock, as well as new postwar production pieces. Just as to what was requested by customers at the time.
In my Souval collection I have a number of such factory denazified pieces. They include mostly combat badges like the FJ-badge, army and lw Flak badges, CCC‘s, U-boat war badge, IAB’s, PAB’s or simply like seen above WB‘s.... etc

            Regards,
            Alex

              Hi,

I also think, that it is a post war Souval badge, reworked in the factory from a swastika badge; see the missing rivet. It is the same insufficient gilding.
The badge in my collection has additional the incused post war L/58 on the back side.

I can only agree, factory finished after denazifying a (most likely) postwar copy.

S&L dis the same, here some S&Ls with removed Swass.
