    Hans-Wilhelm Beutler Medalbar

I'm really pleased to get this medalbar!!!
    It belonged to Hans-Wilhelm Beutler......
He fought in WW1, was an important business man in WW2, and became Director General of the BDI (Federation of German Industry) and a politician in the 50's and 60's!
    More about him here......
    https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans-Wilhelm_Beutler

Here is a photo from the BDI annual conference of 1957, showing Beutler (centre right) shaking hands with Ludwig Erhard the Minister of Economics....

The bar itself, is a 3 place Frackspange, for wear on Tuxedo's and dinner jackets, with the normal order of precedence reversed.
It was made by Klietmann (Die Orden Sammlung of Berlin) IMO they made the very best medalbars in postwar Germany!!

        Austrian commemorative medal for WW1....
This is possibly the most interesting medal on the bar!!
I have a few of these on bars, and in groupings, but they are all the post WW1 original type...this one appears to be a post WW2 variant!!!
It is a high quality medal, with an excellent Gold, mirror finish, and quite different from an original piece, as can been seen by the comparison shots at the end!
Is the maker S&L?? Or someone else??? Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Beautiful bar as usual Nigel. Great to know the name of its first owner too.

          Regards,
          Nick

Nice bar. Always nice to see postwar produced imperial replacement medals.
I agree - the interesting medal is the Austrian commemorative WW1 medal.
The medal you are showing is the Deumer made variant. I have the postwar made S&L and Deumer variants in my collection, as well as their period sales brochures showing their design. There are quite a few differences in the lettering, swords... between the two makers.
Interestingly both of these postwar made medals are not too common, as many postwar made bars simply reuse the period made medals.
            Regards,
            Alex

              Thanks for the info Alex!!!
I did consider Deumer, both because of the Hindenburg being a Deumer, and the sheer quality of the medal, but wasn't sure if they actually made it, as I hadn't seen one before!!!
If you want to show the different versions by S&L and Deumer, it would be great to see, and compare them!!!4
Either in this thread, or maybe start a new one???
              Cheers
              -Nigel

Yes Nigel, it would be interesting to do a comparison with both of them. Actually, it would be interesting to show even more imperial medals. Still haven‘t seen any of my favorite S&L made Bavarian medals here.
At the moment I’m moving my collection to a larger cabinet.
After this is completed I could start some posts...

                    Thanks Rudy!!!
Out of all the medalbars I have, only about 5 or 6 can be attributed, its a shame that the veterans name is lost for so many bars!!

                      Hello Nigel,
it is a S&L piece from the early 50th in my opinion .

                      best regards

A great bar, congratulations! I recall that it was offered along with several other pieces from Dr. Beutler. Did you get any of those as well?
