    KC grouping of Oberst Barth

    Hey guys,

I wanna show you my latest addition.
The KC grouping of the later colonel in general staff Siegfried Barth.

The grouping contains some of his 57er: KC, pilots badge, German cross in gold and EK1.
And what´s even more interesting for me, all his awards recorded in his Bundeswehr-Wehrpass.

Unfortunateyl the German cross and the EK1 are just from later production (open hinge block)

The pilots badge is a little bit corious. There is something attached over the needle catch. Can you explain what it is

    I hope you like it.

    Best, Stefan

        Hi Stefan!!!!
Always great to see an attributed group, and pretty rare to have the Wehrpass detailing everything!!!
The RK I really like, a 1st pattern core with "C" frame, and a great "look" to it!!!
The early Pilots badge is very nice too, I can't make out what's happening with the alterations around the catch!!
Could you show a couple of close-ups so we can see more???
I would also like to see photo's of the EK1 and DK, even if they are later pieces!!
Do we think these were bought by the vet at a later date, or have been added to the group by someone else??
Also, do we know what happened to his other decorations, flight clasp, Krim shield, WB, and possibly a medalbar too???
Brightened up my Sunday, that's for sure!!!

Apparently, the purpose of the add-on device on the pilot's badge is to provide extra safety against the pin slipping out of the catch. An interesting piece, never seen that before!

Great RK group Stefan and like Nigel says to be able to have the WP as well is just icing on the cake. Wonder If he made an adjustment to his uniform to accommodate that extra piece added to the Pilot badge but do need better pictures at different angles to make an educated guess.

            Thanks for showing.

            Regards
            Rudy

Wow a keeper for sure, you did really well with this set Stefan! I was wondering who got it from Benemerenti.

              Best regards,
              Nick

Thanks for the extra closeups, we can see the details very well now!!!
Does the "clip" move? Can it be closed over the pin??? I was thinking it might be something to stop the Pilots badge pin becoming un-clipped when pinned to a jacket??
Never seen anything like it before, but it took quite a lot of work to fit!!!!

If you close the pin and then put down the extra device then the pin can‘t get out of the catch, if it get opened accidentally.

                    Thanks for all replies!

                          Super group!!!!

He was an He111 and Ju88 pilot who flew with JG51 in support of Army Group South on the Eastern Front. He was awarded the RK in Oct ‘42. Going to research and see for what action he received the award.

                          Thanks for showing and congrats!

                          Best,

                          Jeff
