    Deschler thread in Crosses Section

Heres a very interesting thread in the crosses section, showing the changes in the Deschler EK1, through the wartime years and into the 57 period!!!

Don't know if any of you noticed this photo while reading through the Deschler thread.......

But it clearly shows the use of an open hingeblock on a wartime Deschler EK1!!
We have seen open hingeblocks on 57 Deschler DK's.....

I, and others too, were doubtful that the open hingeblocks on these DK'S were fitted by Deschler, more likely pieces bought and finished by S&L!!
However, we can now say for sure (IMO) that the open hingeblocks on these DK's are fully original, and used alongside the solid block hinge!!
It is also further proof, if any were needed, that this type of DK is a Deschler 57er, and not a Deumer or "unknown maker" as has been said in the past!!
I have to admit, I never knew Deschler used an open hingeblock in the war or early postwar years, so very few photo's of their EK's show a side view of the hardware!!!
The Deschler open hingeblock certainly seems to pre-date the S&L late 60'stype, by some years!!

I forgot most things about DKigs and to be honest, I don't want to go into that anymore.
But I maybe have something that would help your investigation.
I made a picture of the hardware of a DKig I determined about 10 years ago as one of the earliest Deschler DKigs. But I could have been wrong.

Interesting. I know the cross. But never read what the conclusion is. I will read it later. In the train to Nijmegen for a special mission for a 92 year old veteran and on my phone it is hard te see.
