    CCC Bronze any good?

Hi guys, it has been a very long time that I have been here.
I only kept contact with only a few good friends once in a while.

Since the last post I didn't collect at all anymore.
Just enjoying life day by day.

Everything goes well but won't start collecting anymore. But never say never.
I will probably jump in once in a while, so I am not gone yet

I have a CCC up for discussion. Not sure what to think about it.

    Hi Luud!!!
Great to see you posting here again my friend...you have been missed!
Your CCC is a very interesting piece!!!
The basic die looks to be S&L?? Is that what you think??
Is the backplate a seperate piece? If it is, it lokks to have been painted after assembly.
The Bronze finish also seems unusual, not so much the colour, but the shiny, laquer type finish, seems different to most S&L's??
The hardware is very different too, compared with what we normally see on clasps.....
It very much reminds me of the hardware on a Deumer made EK1 Spange......

Good to see you still here Nigel.
And nice to see you still here in this section.
You have done a good job

I am not sure what it is, I am only sure what it is not.
Like you say, the finish is more glossy. And there is no backplate.
I made a picture to compare the finish with a S&L and a Deumer.
Finish is completely different as is the hardware.

Thanks for the comparison photo Luud!!!
I think it shows the design is very close to the S&L, maybe a different working die, but from the original master die??
The finish though is very different!
Thinking about it, the one maker who comes to mind is Assmann...
The certainly bought dies from S&L, but their pieces always have a very different finish to S&L......
Looking at some pieces attributed to Assmann, and comparing the hardware, we see these........

Appears to be very similar in terms of catch, pin and hinge, there seems to be a link to the S&L die, and an unusual finish (for which Assmann are well known)
So.......i'm thinking that Assmann could be a possible maker.

Could be Assmann indeed - however, haven't seen a CCC by them ... very strange indeed.

PS - welcome back, Luud !!!!

Quite a few of my S&L imperial badges use the same pin hardware.

            Regards,
            Alex

WoW! Definitely a "weird duck" however quite the interesting CCC. I am thinking like Nigel/Mathijs maybe some type of Assman/S&L hybrid?

Hi to Luud as well! You were basically gone before I started in the 57er section years ago, but thanks for many of the interesting threads from earlier times in which you participated.

              Best,

              Jeff

                Thanks guys!

Good to see you still have passion for 57's Mathijs.

Jeff, good to see some new collectors, I Always liked collecting 57's.
But sometimes dramatical things happen in life what makes collecting unimportant. But nice to see someone could learn something from the old threads.

Intersting to hear the Assmann connection.
Because I remember that when I was studying this piece many years ago. There were for me 2 options left. Assmann or S&L in the time before they made the "regular" 57's.
I forgot what came with it and can't find the old files anymore. So I hoped that you guys would deem it as a fake. That would be easier.

To make it even more complicated.
I have no idea what the grade should be.
Bronze or gold.....I have nothing whatsover wich matches this finish.
I only have Deumers and S&L's with bronze finish, And it's nothing alike.

Here is picture of the finish compared to gold and bronze from S&L wich doesn't differ a lot with Deumer.
