Not sure if this an St&L piece ... don't they have a more dark blue enamel and also higher raised enamel vs frame ?

Its not an S&L piece!!
Many things wrong....for one.....the "U" & "R" in the "Pour Le Merite" lettering should be joined together!!
It is an S&L case however!!!

Like said above, this type of PLM has nothing to do with S&L. Unfortunately they are regularly sold as S&L along with some terrible story. In fact, they are known amongst collectors as the „spanish fake“.
What makes it even worse - they actually sell for several hunderts of euros.. a pitty as it‘s just a modern fake that has nothing to do with S&L and their PLM history .
The case itself is a S&L case, but originally used for the postwar Red Cross award. S&L didn‘t use this case variant for their PLM‘s.

Everyone bidding this amount on such an item should do their homework. Still, I feel sorry for the buyer already.
