    Ek2

I was trying to find more info - was the "4" mark on the ring of an EK2 a manufacturer number or a reused TR ring?

The earliest S&L EK2's have the "4" on the ribbon ring, although we aren't sure, its possible they used up leftover wartime rings, as they also used up a few leftover "4" marked pins on their EK1's, KVK1's etc.
Interestingly, all the Deumer EK2's seem to have had a "3" mark on them, even the last ones they made, so unless Deumer had many thousands of wartime leftovers, its more likely they carried on using the "3" mark on their postwar production....that is certainly true of their "3" marked EK1's, which have a variant of the mark which wasn't used during the TR period!
