    Germany's New Shipping Fees

So...it seems Germany recent changed their international shipping fees to start at 36 euros (or 16 with no tracking)? Has anyone else been affected by this? I have found 3 sellers who no longer ship to the US because of this change, really puts a hit on us US 57er collectors since German eBay is one of our major sources.

I remember when the US international shipping changed from about $8 first class to $14 a few years back...there was outrage! This change makes our change look like chump change!

If any of you gentlemen in the EU who don't have to pay astronomical shipping to the US would be willing to be a middleman, with me paying the shipping of course, please PM me. It might be the only way to get 57ers in the states...it seems all the German sellers are rapidly ceasing to ship to the US

      you can check here.
      https://www.dhl.de/de/privatkunden/p...rnational.html
Around 16 euros for a package up to 2 kilos.
Plus additional cost if you want higher insurance.
So what you write seems correct.

Cheap item I guess you could ask the seller to ship with Deutsche Post, ask for Einschreiben(registered).

As to Belgian rates for shipping in EU / overseas, I only use registered shipping - no parcel service :

Bubble wrap envelope up to 100 gram + registered shipping = approx. 12 Euro for EU and 15 Euro for rest of world
Bubble wrap envelope up to 350 gram + registered shipping = approx. 15 Euro for EU and 18 Euro for rest of world
Small boxes under 1 kgs + registered shipping = approx. 22-28 Euro for both EU and world

16 euro doesn't seem as hard to swallow as the 36 I've been quoted by many sellers, but it seems sellers have decided to just not ship to the US at all anymore because of the changes. I know international shipping adds up quick, but it's nice to have the option.

Postnl (dutch postal services) rate 24 Euro's for a packet up to 2 kilo to the USA, with tracking code.

I came across an item on German ebay that I might not mind having.

Item is 32 Euros. Shipping by DHL is quoted at 43 Euros.

Must be their instantaneous rate where the item arrives before you finish paying for it.

I have asked the seller if he would ship by Registered Mail.

I will let you know what he says.

The reply I got indicates that as of 01.01.2019 goods ie. hard items can no longer be sent Registered Mail.

Same as here in Canada. Registered Mail is for paper ie. documents only.

You must send goods by parcel/package.

Big bucks if you look at some of the listing on German Ebay.

Good luck with seller anything over here.

Shame ... here ( Belgium ) I can ship anything I want via registered shipping, to any destination in the world.
Envelope ( paperwork and other items ) till certain volume in boxes. As long as not heavier than 1 kgs I believe.

I know I have mailed single medals via registered mail from Canada to overseas.

No doubt it will be done in Germany also.

You just have to disguise it with lots of paper.

However don't get caught doing it.

Thats exactly what is now forbidden! Einschreiben only for paper items, nothing else.

If someone in another EU country starts offering middle man services, they could make a few bucks
