    An Observer Badge, 1957 Assmann

    Hello guys!
Is the original sign? What release years? I have never met a hollow hinge with such a pin.

Yes, that is typical for an Assmann Observer's badge!!
Assmann were late in the game, not producing until the late60's and early 70's, and then not for many years!!
They used mostly dies from S&L, and used a mixture of their own hardware and S&L's....open hingeblocks are common on many of their pieces....
    Here is another Assmann Observer.......

Yes, as Nigel said it was common for Assmann to have open hinge blocks. The case seems like a copy of a WW2 badge, though.

Good call by George on the case...forgot all about that!
That's a modern made repro, and doesn't belong with the Assmann badge, though it will protect it I guess!!

            Nice badges shown!

I noticed that the first badge has quite a different wreath compared to the badges from Nigel and Matthieu. On the pin of the badges shown by Nigel and Matthieu you can see a dimple, probably made by a production tool, I cannot see this on the first badge.

Does this mean that they changed their wreath during the small amount of years they produced? And is this badge of a later production date?
