    Opinions on DKiG Case

    Hi Guys!
Have a look at this DK case and let me know what you think...
For sale by a reputable dealer as a 57er, it looks quite old, well made, double hinge etc.
But....it has a gold stripe around the outside of the lid......
When I first started out collecting 57ers, I was always told "no 57 DK case has a silver or gold stripe"!!
Is that still the current thinking...or have attitudes changed on this???
Not thinking of buying, just curious to hear others views.......

No expert but it looks good too me.

Has the bevelled edges like the early RK Cases.

I had always thought that the 57 cases did not have a gold or silver line around them also.

      Mathijs will know for sure.

Actually I was puzzled as well ... I had a similar one with the domed bottom.
But that one had a paper hinge and indeed to gold lining across the top.

Am following this one on eBay, its on my "to buy" list ...

Wartime ... could be, but I have not knowledge on wartime cases.
If postwar ... then its damn well made and somebody might get screwed.

Still, till a certain amount, I'm willing to bid along ....

Cant claim to be any kind of expert on wartime cases, but I don't recall seeing a wartimer with double hinge??
Anyone know if wartimers had the double hinge as well as one longer single hinge...or is that feature unique to postwar??
I would like to have a look under the tray, if it comes out easily!!!

I see the case sold for 213 Euro's!!
Following a little research and discussion, I have come to the conclusion that this, and similar cases that, apart from the gold or silver stripe are the same as 57er DK cases, are for the postwar made S&L DK's with Swastika.
              Well, that's the theory anyway!!!

These are also available flat without the domed bottom part. I‘m used to seeing them, as some of my S&L made DK‘s (postwar swastika form) came in this type of case.
Seems like there is something correct about your theory, Nigel.

                Regards,
                Alex
