    EK1 - St&L, what period?

    Hello,

Another new arrival, when do you think this was made?

Very poor finish, sand blasted frame ... quite a modern St&L I would say.

        Nigel,

The core is magnetic, does this help to identify the age a bit better?

How does it look and feel in hand Andrew......is it thinner and lighter than normal or just the same??
The frame doesn't look sandblasted to me...maybe the lighting Mathijs?
The core paint doesn't look to be on the beading, so should have been painted before assembly?
Magnetic core should push it back a few years to no later than mid 70's!

The frame is not sandblasted, it is polished, the core was painted after assembly, photos attached.

Hard to be sure on date then Andrew!!
The magnetic core was phased out around 74/75 I believe, but cores painted after assembly were quite a lot later??
It could be an 80's+ cross using an older core??
Still looks a nice EK!!! The core painting is much better than that we usually see on those painted after assembly!
Another possibility is a 70's pieces that required the core to be painted again after assembly???

Confusing indeed, that is why I even posted this example here.

I'll have a look at my EK's Andrew, and see if I've got anything similar!!!
