The EK2 looks quite early....maybe around 1960 (i'm guessing the core is magnetic?)
RK could be mid 60's too if magnetic??

I'd agree with that!!
I think they switched to the non magnetic core around 1974, and this RK looks like a nicely made one, so should be around that time or just after!!

Rk 57 boxed w/oakleaves, sword AND diamonds

Being new to this forum just wanted to ask a question or two. This past week-end, while looking around an antique store, I came across a boxed 57 RK (Knights Cross). In this case (box) it was with a neatly folded neck ribbon and lo and behold......there was Oakleaves, Sword, AND Diamonds! Being a collector from the 1970's and 80's of memorabilia (German) while stationed in German. I'd seem "original" RK's and OL/S/D's so I did what any "former" collector would do......I looked real close at it. It was/is spectacular! So I shelled out the $39.45 asked for it and drove home. (8 1/2 hr drive) Needless to say, I got on the internet and did some checking. I've gotten as much info as I could from other places.....and after looking and measuring this piece, (48mm x 48mm medal, ribbon at 18 inches) I believe it to be a much sot after 57 RK. My question is........the Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds.........no hallmarks and slight tarnish (so it's silver) and I have a friend that has a "diamond tester", (I'll test next week) how "rare" of a find do I really have? Any and all information would be much appreciated.

Suggest you take snapshots and post them into new thread - members here will be happy to discuss it .
