    Collecting Season 2017

    Hey everyone,

it‘s that time of the year again ! Another collecting year is slowly coming to an end - time to reflect on the past months.
For me 2017 brought many new pieces for all sections of my „postwar“ collection interest. Imperial replacements, Foreign replacements, 1957 as well as TR replacements.
All in all, I‘ve added way too many items to show, so here are just a very few of the „new additions“.

How was your collecting season ? What was your favorite pick of 2017 ? Any collection goals for 2018 ?

    Best regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex!
You got many super pieces this past year, in fact, I think you probably bought more things than anyone!!!!
2017 was a quieter year for me, but I managed to add a few medalbars.......

The other thing I was really happy to get, was the mounted Austrian group......

I will remember 2017 ( especially these last few months ) as more selling than buying sadly.
Harsh choices in life, less budget and forced / decided to sell off quite a few nice pieces.
But then again, quite a few nice pieces have found a new loving owner, that's important.

I look to 2018 with hope for many new things of change .... and yes, perhaps even add to the collection.

      Only time will tell .

Sorry about being late on this thread but my best 2017 purchase was

        1. Kapitan Zur See Hans Trummer
        2. Oberst Fritz Muller

2 great groupings proud to have in my collection. Trying to find a very nice display case to hang on the wall.

        Happy New Year everyone.

        Regards,
        Rudy

          Hi All,

Great awards gents and Rudy, what a great catch of 57er provenance groups!

For me, it would be the group of Heer Major Heinz Oppermann. Here is the text from my post in February 2017:

I am pleased to present the 1957 Nachlass of German Heer Major Heinz Oppermann. He spent the war as a Pioneer in Army Group A, 11th Heer Army, 72nd Division. He was one of the early awardees of the German Cross in Gold.

The full size 57er badges/clasp are all early to mid S&L produced, with solid hinge blocks. The Silver grade CCC has the broad first style pin. The remainder have the tapering pin from the mid period. The 57er mini pin is by Deumer. There was not a full size 57er Krim Shield with the group, so I have not added one. All awards pictured arrived together, and this would be considered a "solid" provenance group.

As far as an '18 57er collecting goal, probably a PAB75.

          Happy New Year!

          Health and happiness to All,

          Jeff

I didn't pick up much this year as I spent much of it overseas and moving across state. Next year I think I'd like to pick up a nice mini combo or two and maybe an early RK or KVK RK

Not that many exciting buys for me in 2017 - but below group was one of my best ones.
