    Medalbar 57/Imperial

Here's another medal bar with an interesting mix of 57 and Imperial styles!!
Its a 5 place bar, with Imperial EK2, Hungarian WW1 Commemorative medal, a pair of Friedrich August medals, and a KVK2 with swords.
The bar itself is post WW2 assembled, and has a strange order of precedence, which I can only guess has been done to enhance the "look" of the bar, a cross at each end and the 3 circular medals in the middle do have a neat symmetry, even if it does have perfectionists pulling their hair out!!

      Onto the individual medals..........
EK2, a nice looking cross, with a blackened patina to the frame, in fact the frame is virtually the same colour as the core!!
I don't know the maker, but there is a hump on the frame where the ring is soldered, and I notice that the details on the obverse appear flatter than those on the reverse which stand out more.....

The pair of Friedrich August medals.....
These are quite interesting, as far as I know, the medals were only awarded in Bronze and Silver, but in the inter-war years, a gilt version was available as a private purchase piece, and that's what we have here, a gilt, and a silver....

                  Hi Nigel,

nice medalbar but in fact it's the Hungarian WWI Commemorative medal with swords that's on this medalbar.
The 4 WWI era medals look period to me. Would you agree ?
I do have all 4 of these medals made in the 57er period - they have that typical post war finish on them.

                  Regards,
                  Alex

And finally, the KVK2 with swords......
A 57er by S&L, looking at the flaws, I would guess a late 60's piece, which is probably the same age as the bar.......
