Thanks for the extra pics of the Oaks!
I don't know if anyone in the 57 section is expert enough on wartime Oaks to say if these are good or bad??....I am certainly not!!!!
Must say, I do like the remains of the finish on the reverse.......
I would also post the pics in the crosses section of the forum, then Dietrich, Gentry etc. can give you their thoughts!!!

          Hi Nigel,

I posted pics from the oaks in the crosses section.
Seems to be a wartime piece

That's great news, very happy for you
Did you think they might be good when you bought the set, and did you pay more than an average 57 price???

              Hi Nigel,

              I'm very happy

I didn't think that the Oaks could be a wartime piece.
The seller also not that's why I got the set for the normal 57er price.

              Regards
              Stefan

                Hi Stefan!!!
Just shows that there are still bargains out there!!
I did think the set belonged together, as the patina and wear seem to be consistent on all the pieces, and the ribbon looked like it had been around Oaks for a long time.....I didn't think they would turn out to be genuine wartimers though........that is a HUGE bonus!!!
                Congrats!!!!!!
                -Nigel

                    Thanks!

Yes, that's my best "57er" addition so far

Now that's a win. I saw these on the other forum. Looks like he just put his wartime Oaks with his new (at that time) 57er. Perhaps one of the first to buy the new RK.

I know that some RK winners did use there wartime Oaks & above on their 57 RK's. I'm going to check my notes to see if I recorded names of those did this. Tom

                            A dream for every collector!!!

In Stephen Previtera's "An Iron Time" on pages 470 and 479 there are images of BW Admiral Kemnade wearing an early '57 RK along with his wartime Oaks.

                            Best,

                            Jeff
