IMO Dietrich isn't wearing this exact set in the picture. What do you think?

@Mark: Your set doesn't look like a set from Klein. Is there any history to it?

It amazes me, that we still have so little info about the S&L postwar made Diamond OL&S sets. Being familiar with the pic that was posted by Gentry, I very much believe that the pictured Diamond Oaks are exactly what we are looking for.

Besides that, I have seen pics of a very late S&L made diamond OL&S owned my Miro on the WR forum. Since he is a member here too, maybe he will post them here as well ?
The set is very late, but never the less still gives a good idea of what an earlier S&L postwar must have looked like.

                  Regards,
                  Alex

Good to see this thread brought back to life Alex!!!
I don't think we ever got the answers we were looking for, so if you or anyone knows Miro, and could possibly ask him to post his set here....that would be great!!!!!!!

I have asked Miro and he has kindly taken some new pics of his rare late S&L diamond set.
I‘m posting these pics on his behalf.

Here is what he wrote about the S&L diamond set.

Hi Alex, here are some photos.
I made also some comparison shots with late OLS that were "role model" for these "diamonds". Both OLS and OLSD are marked at the same place - at the bottom, under the loop, so that only the first and last digit are visible (OLS are marked 800 for oaks and 925 for swords, OLSD are marked 925 both swords and oaks).

Stones used in this piece are Zircon gemstones (i.e. natural Zircon mineral, and not Cubic Zirconia - synthetic zircon obviously used in jewelry). I have it tested by jeweler, specialist on gemstones. If you want to learn something about the difference, here is the link: ‪http://www.jtv.com/library/zircon-vs...-zirconia.html

                      Best, Miro

I have often wondered if this set, supposedly brought back after the war, had anything to do with S&L (because of the swords which have the S&L customary "8 dots" in the crossguard).

Thanks for posting the pics Alex, and of course thanks to Miro for taking them, and allowing them to be shown here!!!
This is the first time I have seen a set that were for sure S&L products!!
When I asked if anyone had any photo's or info on S&L Diamonds. I was thinking of early sets, and i'm pretty sure some were made....
These though are much later, but still very rare and very interesting!!!
We know S&L only used 925 silver on relatively modern pieces, including ordinary Oaks, and the "D" frame RK's that they made, for quite a short period, before reverting to 800 Silver!!!!
So these would almost certainly not have been made for vets at such a late date, but if they were just for the collectors market, I would have thought they would have been much more common???
S&L made some special pieces for a series of IHK exhibitions back in the 90's I believe, these Oaks could have been made for that???

                              Hi Nigel,
if I remember correctly, 925 mark was used late 80s /early 90s, so purely theoretically, there were still four surviving diamond holders at that time. Last of them died 1996.

Anyway, if this one was meant to be made for collector´s market, then it did hit the target. I am happy with it as it makes my 57 collection more complete.

Otto Gille received a postwar diamond set in 1958. Even though no detailed pics are available, they look like the S&L form.

Besides that I know of very early S&L diamond OLS using unflawed S&L OLS as a base. Instead of having many small stones, these only hold two larger size stones.
I know of 3 of these sets. All of them are unflawed OLS, 8 dots on the swords and the sword handles separate from the Oaks. I believe these predate the 1957 period.
One of them is attached to an unflawed B-frame RK.

                                Regards,
                                Alex
