Regarding post war diamonds made by Klein, does anyone have further pictures of these? The diamonds I have posted in post 45 and 47 in this thread are, as I understand it, likely made by Klein. They do however differ from the diamonds pictured in post 41 and they also differ from the Klein post war diamonds pictured in Dietrich’s book on page 386. Does anyone know if Klein made more than one type of post war diamonds?
IMO your set is an unmarked Klein from the 80's. Tom

      My comments:
      1. No idea whether Klein makes unmarked diamond or more than one type of diamond, but Klein does make marked post war diamond ( see pictures and logo, note the open circle, thanks for D. Maerz's information)
      2. Fakers will simulate the Klein logo so can not judge the piece from the logo whether it is Klein.
      3. No idea whether S&L makes post war diamond.

If Klein makes post war unmarked diamond in 80', they will probably look like this.
But the profile of it does not match war time piece .

They never were common and cheap.

A little update: Souval offered this version (according to their price catalogue from the 80's), which is "ready to set stones". Maybe Souval did this, because they "only" offered a version with white sapphires. So the customer could buy an unworked set and give it to a jeweler, who was able to put real diamonds on it. Just a theory...

The set, which Mathijs has shown, should clearly be dated before the 1980's.

The Souval sets were only ever aimed at collectors IMO, when I started the thread I was interested in finding out if S&L made any vets replacement versions in the late 50's/ early 60's period.
I read that they had, but no-one seems to have any info on them, no examples, no photo's....so either, owing to rarity that haven't shown up, or simply, non were ever made!!

                    Hi Nils,

Souval's Diamond OLS were made using white saphires. On request you could also have them made with real diamonds. An interesting fact that Ron C. was told directly by Mr. Umlauf himself.

Souval produced diamond OLS for everyone that paid for them. Mr. Umlauf ran a business afterall. They started making diamond OLS probably even before there were post-war collectors around. (Wartime display pieces)

                    Regards,
                    Alex

@Nigel: Sorry, I didn't realise that, when I "revived" the thread. Seems no one ever saw a genuine set of S&L diamonds?

@Alex: That's interesting! Do you have any idea why Souval offered an "unworked" version?

                        No worries Nils!!
I really hoped that an S&L set would have turned up, at least someone posting pics, or having knowledge of them.....but it seems not!!!

I believe the OLS you are referring to (1/9 of the later Souval catalog) were most likely ordered when someone wanted to have stones set by their own jeweler and only required the correct style of diamond OLS.
The unworked OLS set I have in my collection is basically a diamond style OLS without the stones - ready to have stones set.

Here's a (cropped) photo from a shot of a collection in 1962, posted recently, showing Diamond sets. The shape is very similar to S&L, but after comparing to a standard S&L O&S set, I don't believe they actually are S&L.
