Good catch, Jeff, I overlooked that!

      Hi Brig,

In reviewing my mini pin groups, I am seeing the same patterns across the many different minis you have analyzed. I would like to see what you think of the S&L versus Deumer DKiG mini. I prefer the Deumer version, just as I do in the full size award.

      Best,

      Jeff

I would need to see some Deumer combos with DKIGs on them. I have several DKIG mini combos, all S&L, and a single I think may be Deumer but need to compare it to known ones on bars

        I'll start looking into it

The DKiG appears to be much trickier...

The top 3 are on Deumer combos, the other 8 S&L. The second Deumer is the only one distinctly different, and the 2nd and 3rd Deumer have what I would expect based off the EKs...oaks in center lacking finish. I can't see any real deciding traits on this one, but I don't own any Deumers to put under the lope and compare

            Excellent work Brig....it really is!!!!
Only by this really close study of the small details can we learn who made what!!
It is very interesting to see, the story of the mini's seems to mirror that of the full size pieces...
The way you have identified the Deumer WB from the S&L, or the Deumer KVK from the S&L is exactly the same as was used to tell the full size pieces apart!!!
As for the theory that S&L bought up the remaining Deumer stock when they got out of the 57 game, that is exactly what some of us have thought for some time, and I also agree with you Jeff, that it was likely to be the late 60's, rather than the earlier/ mid 60's as previously thought!!
Towards the end of the 60's, several S&L pieces appear with a mix of S&L and Deumer parts/ hardware, but always on open hingeblock pieces from '68 onwards, so that should indeed confirm the date when Deumer ceased production!!
I have been thinking about a thread on these "hybrid" pieces, now might be a good time??
Anyway....thanks again for taking the time to do this Brig.....this is how we make progress in this hobby!!!!!!!!!

              Thanks Nigel

Once I find that perfect condition combo for photos, I intend to do a more thorough, better image analysis of minis. I also need to find more Deumers to compare ro ST&Ls.

My desired endstate is for collectors to be able to identify their unmarked singles

                Hi Brig,

I have taken images of my pin groups in diffused day light (background is a carpet sample board), and I will post the lower resolution versions here. I will email you the high resolution versions for your further study. I hope this helps!

                Best,

                Jeff

What a fantastic thread -- my favourite kind!

Begun by Nigel a year ago and tremendously expanded by Brig and now Jeff, this stands as a great analysis and reference thread. Thanks to the whole community!

One question (about Minesweepers of course). I see there's both a Deumer and and an S&L U-Boat mini. They both made full-size Minesweepers so I wonder if anyone has seen a Deumer-attributable mini Minesweeper? I've assumed that all the ones I've seen were from S&L.

                    Best regards,
                    ---Norm

If I can find a Deumer or two, Norm, I'll compare Minesweepers!
