    Prost ! Steve.
Thanks Steve. Unfortunately I don't have the name of the veteran.
    Best regards,

        Hi Brig!!
I was referring to the way that the arms on the EK1 appear to have been bent back, forming a more curved shape to the cross, rather than the usual flatback!
Some times vets did this themselves by hand, sometimes the pieces were factory vaulted!!

Great set of early S&L pieces, including the vaulted (by hand?) EK1!!
The highlight for me is the two place medalbar, beautiful wear and patina to both the EK2 and the Ostmedaille!!
Could we please see some reverse pics of the bar, so we can see the backing cloth and pin??
The ribbons are arranged in a way which gives a more wartime look than 57.....very nice!!!
          -Nigel
Thanks Nigel. The EK1 is indeed a vaulted wide pin cross. Not sure if the veteran modified it or bought it this way from St&L
The core is magnetic. The wide pin itself is not magnetic.

Here are two reverse side pics of the medalbar showing the backing cloth and the pin.

Here is another pic showing the curved shape of the cross.

                Thanks Alex!!
Not what I expected to be honest!!
The reverse shows more of a "homemade" look to the stitching and the folding of the ribbons, rather than the more professional finish we are used to seeing on bars bought from retailers etc.
But, in no way does that spoil the bar IMO, it actually gives it a unique look, and I really like it!!!!
Is there any padding under the ribbons Alex??

Thanks for teaching me something new!

On the US side, we sometimes refer to this as 'trenching', when the soldier modified his insignia for wear...with EGA's, it includes bending back the wings, stipling the globe, hand toolwork, etc

                          Hi Alex,

Nice group. Not small in the case that it had a lot of meaning to the wearer. Obviously wore with pride as to the wear of the medal bar.

                          Thanks for showing.
                          Regards,
                          Rudy
