    Feuerwehr-Ehrenziechen 2. Stufe..........

Gents, just landed on the door mat ! this "Feuerwehr-Ehrenziechen " 2. Stufe (second class) in Silver by St u L....not seen that often.
I now have both fire crosses, first class in Gold and the second class in Silver........the finish and enamelling is superb on both, they IMO gorgeous looking awards, again often overlooked by us 57ers !
    Prost ! Steve.

          Hi Steve!!
I am not 100% sure about your new cross, when comparing it with your Gold version it is not the same, the enamel is slightly different, there is a bigger gap between the flame and the edge of the cross, the lettering is very different, in both font style and positioning, and the ball suspender has a strange bevelled top to it, unlike any 57 piece I have seen before???
          A few possibilities.......
It could be a later S&L, but they would have to have changed the die
          It could be another maker
          It could be a fake

I am wondering if this cross is from the same source as these...................

Nigel, thanks for the evaluation of this piece................if its a fake the quality is very good compared the ones shown in the old thread, but hey nothing surprises me these days.
I did notice it was slightly different, but little in it, so I assumed it was a later, they both weigh in at 16g, and the dimensions/measurements are the same, albeit the Silver one is slightly thicker, at a little over 1mm, where as the Gold one is dead on 1mm, it does not bend it is a solid piece, it has the same slightly vaulted look as the Gold one, could it be a Deumer/Assmann ? or as you suggest an out and out fake ! ....
              Prost ! Steve.

                Hi Steve!!
I am guessing here to be honest, it doesn't look to be a typical Deumer piece, and apart from S&L, they are the only other 57 maker I think might be in the frame for the Fire Service Cross?
It could be an S&L, from a different period?? I just haven't seen one exactly like this before. so its hard to say!!!
Did the same seller have the 1st class too? If so, was it also like this one??
Don't write it off yet Steve, its just a bit of a puzzler!!!
