    Yes, but this is not a 57er u-boat stickpin.

    It's a membership stickpin from the VDU = Verband Deutscher Ubootfahrer.

    Look at the small iron cross on top.

        the VDU is an association for submariners and everyone who is interested in history, technic, tactic and many more about uboats.

            no one wanted this shield, so I bought it and I don't regret it .

            I opened it very carefully and it is really a wonderful earliest example, made by S&L.

            I'm still in the opinion that this is not a factory-made backing, but it was made very professional.

            The backing is a three layer construction, blue navy cloth, a metal
            plate with holes and then again blue navy cloth.

            It is always a risk to buy a shield with backing, so you can't see the reverse, but in this case I think it was worthwhile,
