    DKiG for evaluation..........

Just picked this up from a collector friend (virtually free !).....would I be correct in saying St u L made DKiG with copper starburst, open hinge/third style pin, large open rivets, large "C" catch, so a late piece......but with enamelled ring ? not painted....another on the cusp of changeover piece from around around 1968 ?
Lots of scratches around the EK, does that indicate possible Swastika removed piece ?
    Prost ! Steve.

          Hi Steve.
          Nice cross.
See my DKiS. Star burst is in a similar color.

            Hi Steve!
Well, its an interesting DK, that's for sure!!
All the parts of the DK look like S&L to me? Apart from the rivets!!
I haven't seen rivets like that on an S&L 57er, not that I can remember anyway???
The other things to note, are the marks/ scratches, around and behind the EK!!
From the shape and position of the scratches, it looks to me as if there was once a swastika there, which has been replaced by a 57 style EK? This could also explain the rivets, if the piece was reworked, but I can't see any scratches around the rivets as if they have been messed with? Don't know if you can Steve??
We all know S&L made postwar DK's with swastika, but the ones I have seen have all been earlier pieces, did they also make DK's with swastika at the time this piece appears to have been made...1970's??
If they did, then I would guess this is a reworked S&L that originally had a swastika, if they didn't..............more head scratching!!!
Hopefully some of the other guys can help, and give their opinions!!!
