Interesting Medal Bar w/ US Award

I saw this sell a week or two back, and found it very interesting as the man was awarded the US Meritorious Service Medal (last one on the stack). I believe it sold for around 145 Euro. It must have been fairly scarce to see a German with wartime awards presented with a US award. It also helps date the bar, as this medal was not implemented by the US until January 1969, so the recipient must have been rather senior at the time he was awarded it...typical with the presentation of our awards on foreign personnel, and also typical of the award itself (at least in the Marine Corps). I don't collect 57er medal bars at this time, and I didn't win this, but the US award almost tempted me to ask if the seller shipped internationally

I think I have seen one other with that medal on, and a ribbonbar too! But certainly a very scarce combo!
The medalbar itself is quite a late one, the EK and Ost in particular date from the 80's at least!!!

        Hi Brig,

Interesting to see the KVK and KVM on the same bar, especially with an EK2! Thanks for posting and if it sold for around 145 euro that was a great price in my opinion, even with later medals!

        Best,

        Jeff

So this guy stuck around the service awhile, or had a set mounted after retirement for parades

Well I am not a friend of this bar. How many times it was for sale at Ebay??? 2 or 3 times?
When the bar is a good one, I am with Nigel. The only possible answer in my opinion is that the Veteran get the BVK and need a new Medalbar. So we have to date the BVK. Is it a piece from the 80´s it make sence.

However all the 57er a late pieces. So not interesting for my collection.

              Gentleman,
in my opinions a "made-up" bar.
First the combination of Ek2, KVK and WMM, and I think that the US award was issued first in the 1980's to german soldiers, and there was the most ww2 vets retired

Hey guys, that's indeed an interesting bar. I almost wanted to bid on it but I had a bad feeling in the end. To me it just looks like a made up bar. I might be wrong and this is a fine bar that sold cheap but to me it just doesn't turn the key. The EK2 looks creepy too, even for a late piece.

                Best regards,
                Alex

                  Hi Alex!
The EK is actually fine, if you buy one from S&L today, it will probably look very much like this one, sandblasted frame, core painted after assembly, in an uneven coating!!
I think the bars ok, everything from the same period, well mounted etc.
