Interesting Deumer EK1

Hi,

today I get my last addition for this year. A nice Deumer EK1 market with L11 but it is the first time that I see the mark on the needle! Also the hingeblock is smaller and the paint of the core is different.

and here you can compare it with a "normal" L11 marked EK1.

Does anyone have a same piece in his collection or is it a rarity like Nigel Screwback EK1 ?

Hi Patrick!
First, let me apologize for not replying to your thread, I totally missed it, I have no idea why!! Sorry for that!!!!
I saw the EK myself and nearly bid on it, as I haven't seen the L/11 mark on the pin of a 57 Deumer EK before!!
Looking at the cross itself, the matt paint on the core, and the silver/white finish on the backplate point to quite an early piece!
The L/11 mark is not only in a different place, it also looks like a different mark to the one we usually see!!!
So, a great and rare variant, from the early period!!!

I did the same as Nigel. Completely missed it!

Wow! Now that would be a rare badge. Never seen the strike on the pin. I don't know anything about the wartime pieces but is it common to be marked on the pin? If not, than you do have a good one there.

I am fairly sure that I have seen a wartime Deumer with the L/11 mark on the pin, I will have a look thru my files and see if I can find a photo??
I have also seen one example of a Deumer EK1 that had the L/11 mark on the backplate, without a box surrounding the mark, as they also used on some wartimers, so theres little doubt they would have used up wartime leftover parts on their 57ers, especially the earlier ones!!
