Being a novice in collecting 57'ers I have a question.

              I own 4 S&L Knight's Crosses.

All have cross hatching on the acorn cups.

The cross pictured in this thread does not(as far as I can see).

Is the cross pictured in this thread a variety of some sort?

              Wayne

The first pattern core does not have the same distinctive cross hatching on the acorn cups seen on the second core ............they have what looks like to my eyes to be a series/number of dots on the cup to differentiate between the cup and the acorn, very difficult to see (and no doubt to capture on a camera !) .....one (or me !) has to use a jewellers glass to see any trace of them.
                Prost ! Steve.

                  Thanks Steve.

                  Do not see any dots.

The acorns themselves appear quite large compared to the ones on my
                  2 first core crosses.

Did these come in different sizes on the first core crosses?

                      Hi Wayne!
While the basic die may be the same, the paint on the core can have a big effect on the details!
Some cores received thicker coats of paint than others, some received two coats, and the paint itself can very in texture etc. all this can enlarge some details while blurring others!
