Unkown hardware on KM badge ....

    Hi chaps,

This just sold for 88 Euro on eBay - too rich for my blood though.
Does anyone have any ideas on the hardware ?? Not your typical St&L / Deumer set-up.

By the way, this chaps sold quite a few of KM badges, I managed to get hold of three badges at very fair prices.

    Hi Mathijs!
    Deumer I think??
Looks to be a Deumer hinge, but wider than normally used on these badges??? also with plate under hinge, pin also seems extra thick??? and a very early round wire catch and plate as used on Deumer's earliest KVK1 , the converted wartime design!!
    -Rare combo indeed!!!!!!!!!!

      Hello guys,

      I have purchased this badge.

Firstly I was thinking about Deumer too, but... what do you think about Assmann ??
For me it looks like a Deumer / Assmann hybrid.

Very early, very rare - as Nigel said - combo indeed. Worth that price imo

Gentlemen, I missed out on these badges, got to the party too late !
I forgot Europe was still one hour ahead of the U.K. !.....I was going to bid on the Auxiliary Cruiser and S-Boat badges to complete my KM set, they all went cheap !! it was not meant to be ! you chaps got great badges, congratulations on your acquisitions, fine examples !
        Prost ! Steve.

          Hi Patryk!
          I didn't think about Assmann!!
For the Destroyer badge, S&L and Deumer used the same die, only the hardware and finish tells them apart!!
Assmann certainly used S&L parts and hardware, but I don't know if they used any Deumer stuff?
The colour of the gold/ silver finish on this badge looks more like Deumer's version I think, and while the very earliest Assmann badges used some old wartime style hardware, it wasn't like that used here.
A very early Assmann HSF for comparison.................

I could be completely wrong, but I still feel Deumer is the likely maker??
But the combination of hardware used makes this a rare variant anyway!!!

thanks Nigel, now I think it's a Deumer too !!!
Assmann is much different, thanks for showing it

Steve - don't you had a feeling that Auxilary badge is a cast modern made piece?
            I had such.....

Patryk, they had all finished by the time I looked at them , so I did not spend any more time studying them, I would of if I was going to bid....so you could be right about it.
I did not keep any images, as soon as I realised my mistake I deleted the e-bay page ! so I am unable to check
              Prost ! Steve.
