Very modern set for me ... marked 925 - read somewhere they are made by an UK dealer.

925 is very late, but genuine marking of S&L pieces. This one looks to be correct S&L piece with typical late finnish of the back.

Mathijs, behind your "I read somewhere" is a story shamefully spread here about 10 years ago by one well known British writer/expert, who came with claim that 925 is British mark for Sterling silver that was never used by Germans, so these pieces should be considered as fakes made in UK.

Maybe I will have chance to ask this man once, if AWS (A. Werner und Sohne), maker of famous EK 1914s (and jubilee 1870ers as well) was British dealer too, as he marked his crosses with 925 mark since the beginning of 20th century,

These Oaks are indeed a late produced "925" marked St u L made set, probably mid 1990's to current production, yes they are being made now, St u L have just announced a new run/production......see thread here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=756072&page=2 There is a set on E-Bay at an outragous price see here http://www.ebay.de/itm/Eisernes-Kreu...item5b003199da the Oaks are the same as Miro shows the price 299 Euro lol ! or if bought from St u L at this present moment 22.50 Euro ..............
Mathijs, the myth of the English made "925" marked RK's has been dismissed and well discussed and examples shown here on this forum, they, St u L, made late RK's/Oaks/Swords marked "925"........one only has to peruse the 57er archive pages to see such discussions and examples........
        Prost ! Steve.

I forgot to add: the only thing that is wrong on this piece (offered on ebay) is the price. 299 euros is way too much for such late oaks.

I don´t mean it personally, but if I was a moderator of another very similar section of another very similar forum, I´d rather ask myself, what am I doing wrong that the newest post on "my" forum is from 2. October (1 week old), than to do the same wrong things on this living forum. But it´s just me...

                      Anyway, back to the Oaks......
As already mentioned, a decent enough set by S&L, but late, good points made on the "925" mark, why someone ever said that wasn't a German silver standard I don't know, there are many examples of "925" marked German medals, many from the Imperial period!!
It is interesting I think, that S&L used this type, with the flat flange around the edge of the reverse for some time, only to revert back to the normal dished type??

                        Hi Thanks to all,
as noted over priced, not sure what some of the comments are about , but i am interested in a mid /early set at some point. the KC case which i posted was on a dealer site , after paying for it , i was then informed by the dealer he could not find it and returned my payment , which pissed me of no end , thanks for the great help i find here best to all martin.
