Indeed a wonderful bar and the provenance makes it even more special. Was the bar for private wear or did he served in the Bundesmarine after the war? Is that known?
Against the rules is that he put both classes of the u-boat clasp on his bar, regularies say that only the silver version should have been worn/shown. But sometimes it was done like on your bar and accepted, so nothing is wrong with this bar.
Perfect piece which i would have too added to my collection

I do not have found many details about his live. He was POW and released in 1947.Comment

In my opionion never worn in the Bundeswehr/Bundesgrenzschutz.
I think made for privat use.
