Sorry, but I do not like this type ( too glossy to be original ).

Seems you have plenty of this type .... are you private collector or dealer ?
I do believe having encountered some of these badges on eBay ???

          Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I am a dealer selling mostly Imperial military items and unfortunately I was offering (and more sadly even sold) some fake and/or remake 57er badges and medals.

I have recently realised that my name appeared in the Hall of shame section, I registered immediately and started to ask the guys here to check my stock bit by bit.

I was offering good and bad examples too not knowing which ones were OK.

This is why I am posting day by day my items, even if they are listed or not to make sure that I will not sell any fake items as genuine.

          Andrew

            Hi Andrew!
If this is a good, later S&L piece, it should have an open hingeblock, but it looks solid?? Can you confirm that, or not!!
            Cheers
            -Nigel

              Hi All,

This LW Recon Clasp looks very similar to the piece posted by Pink earlier this week.......

              Best,

              Jeff

Nigel, this is the same one that came up several days ago....a closed hinge block...think the pics are in the Hall...recall someone added it to the Hall right away..

Thanks for clearing that up Jeff and Floyd!!!
This will be another piece that Andrew will have to consign to the scrap box by the looks of it.

                    Nigel,

Any chance of posting / sending a photo it should look like? Thanks

Thanks. Any close-ups of the open hinge block?

                          Hi All,

Now that I am '57 LW clasp paranoid........

I did a quick run through of my clasps to check their "status"......

One thing I noticed on the reverse is a vertical line running slightly inboard on the oaks. All seem to have this vertical line no matter which clasp variant. Most are located on the clasp side, however I have several with the line on the hinge side. The line can be seen on the left side (clasp side) on the LW gold recon image submitted by Mathijs. Any ideas or am I just crazy?

                          Best,

                          Jeff

@ Jeff, interesting, we need to compare more clasps!!
@Andrew, heres the solid hinge-block and thin flatwire catch used by S&L from 1958-to approx. 1968.......
