Strange hardware on this one!
Needle pin, but neither Deumer or S&L type from what I see? catch is very thin, looks to be thinner than S&L's early thin catch, and the hinge is unknown to me on a WB?
Wait for more opinions on this one!!

Very interesting badge, Novara.
Like Nigel says strange hardware on this one.
But i have seen i have seen it before. Funny thing actually because this weekend i tried to win one in an auktion but there were also wartime badges in the group and it went too high.
If i remember it correctly Karsten also such a badge.

Back to the badge.
Looking at it i see typical S&L features on this one (place of berries in the side leaves, row of dots just above the helmet).
It could be that the hardware was used by S&L for a short time.... again difficult to say.

That is just speculation of course, let's stay with the facts:
For the moment i have only seen this type of hardware on black woundbadge if i remember it correctly.
Also another thing i noticed is that on these badges a lot of black finish.
The dots left of the helmet are always "flattened" and not so pronounced as normally you see on other VWA.
The outer rim seems to be not as high as on other VWA. Could you please post the weight of the badge? Just to see if there is a lot of difference with another hardware badge.

IMO it is difficult to reach a conclusion which maker it is.
One thing i know is that this is a good 57er.

This could be a rare variant, or even a different maker, worth hanging on to for a while maybe???

Please note I did not register here because I want to increase my business but to prove that I don't want to trick anybody on eBay, even if I did that but not deliberately.

I had a very similar VWA with the same type of fixings before (WW1 type) but that one came with a 1936 dated award certificate. As you know there was a second awarding of the WW1 Wound Badges: on January 30th, 1936, the Army gaining full momentum in the German society, the Ministry of Interior issued a declaration stating that all those who were wounded during World War I and never received their Wound Badge could now do so through the proper channels. They would also receive the proper documents, which would in turn allow them to wear the badge officially and in public. That certificate was issued in Oldenburg, maybe t helps to identify the maker? No idea.
