    Souval Marine Frontspange......

Gents, just picked this up......a Souval "Marine Frontspange" (Naval Combat clasp), typical hardware, and very small mm on rear, barely readable, but under close magnification I can just make our what looks like L/58....bronze finish still on back, but sadly gone from the front !
    Prost ! Steve.

      Hi Steve!
I can't claim to know too much about Marine clasp's, but I have seen these before by Souval, and I do have some experience with both Souval hardware and MM's. so maybe I can contribute a little?
The MM, looks to be typical in shape and style for Souval in solid back badges and clasps, the same MM can sometimes be found on Rudolf's WB's!
The hardware looks to be at the earlier end of production, the S&L style tapering pin is the other style I've seen on these, but I believe this pin is Souval's own and earlier than the S&L style.
Nice frontspange IMO, but as always with pieces like this, I look forward to hearing Rudiger's knowledgeable thoughts!!!

        Hi everyone,

the thin needle pin is the earlier type that Souval typically used. The other common one is the square wider pin. This one was supplied by S&L and was typically used later in production.
Then again Souval used whatever was available at the given time. It is also possible to find mixed hardware setups.

Here is another example of a Souval clasp using a thin pin setup:

        Best regards,
        Alex
