    57er KVK RK with Swords.

Gentlemen, I recently won on Butschek's site, an early production St u L 57er KVK RK with Swords......with small original period ribbon, nicely frosted with burnished highlights, quite a heavy award to have dangling around ones neck !
    Prost ! Steve.

And so the 57er section in the WAF gets a BANG to the end of the year

Wonderful early piece, not often to find and see. Sadly your pics are a little bit small, this beauty deserves for sure bigger pics.

Great catch, Steve ..... and well done

Sorry Rudiger, I am going to have to ask some one how to upload images that are bigger, it will take me some time to get used to this site !
        Prost ! Steve.

I forgot you won that one Steve! Its a super quality early piece, and, if I remember, at a good price too!
              Lovely condition, and great finish!!!
Interesting you mentioned the ribbon, have we actually seen a KVK RK 57 version being worn by a vet? Maybe we have, but I don't recall!
In a similar way to some other 57 medals, such as the KVM, I don't think there was a big demand for these among vets, many probably never bought them again in 57 form, I doubt S&L made too many, and of those, as many probably ended up being sold to collectors as were sold to vets, but that does mean, that these are pretty scarce, much rarer than the EK RK, or DK, especially in early form like this one!!
Its also worth mentioning that the hand finishing on this piece is excellent, and its only the second one I've seen where the sword handles are not joined to the cross arms!!
So, a BIG congratulations on this rare beauty Steve!!

We do not see such a nice RK KVK very often!!

Gents, images of a veteran wearing his KvK RK mit Schwertern, post war.......and wartime image of the same man
                  Here's more information on him................
                  Rank: Oberfeldwebel (Warrant Officer)
                  Unit: Werkstatt-Kompanie / Panzer-Regiment 15 / 11.Panzer-Division “Gespenster-Division”
Awarded KvK RK mit Schwertern: December 8th, 1944
and obviously he also holds both KvK first & second class with Swords.
                  Prost ! Steve.
