    Another Deumer KVK1

    Hi guys!!
I've just got another Deumer KVK1, this time back to the "with swords" version!!
This is different to my others for two reasons, first the catch.....
The earliest Deumer KVK1's were the two piece type, using up leftover wartime zinc bodies, with a new central disc soldered over the remains of the swastika, this type used the round wire "question mark" shaped catch! When Deumer started their all new one piece 57 design, they still used the round wire catch on the earlier ones, eventually they used a new catch, made of flat wire, and that's the variant I have just received!!
The other unusual things about this one, are the swords! Normally the sword blades are frosted, with just the raised spine of the blade shiny and polished, but on this one, the entire sword blades are polished!!!
    Heres a few photo's.............

Reverse, the catch is bent so the pin wont open at the moment, I don't want to damage it, so have left it as it is!!!

Finally a side by side comparison of three Deumers, showing the timeline!
          Left to right......
Two piece with leftover zinc wartime body, and separate central disc
One piece, earlier version retaining wartime style catch
One piece, slightly later, with new flat wire catch...........

Nigel, good catch, except for the "9's" you would not know it was a Deumer, despite its unusual finish...... can you date line these three ? I assume from 1957 to around 1967/8 ?
            Prost ! Steve.

              Thanks Steve!!
When Deumer ceased 57 production is a good question! I don't think we can say exactly, but theres no real drop off in quality as we see in S&L's, from the later 60's onwards, so my personal feeling is Deumer stopped around the mid 60's, with S&L buying up at least some of the leftover Deumer stock, and using it uo alongside their own.
It would make an interesting thread I think, if we can compare some Deumer pieces, try and find some later ones, and see where some of their parts and hardware ended up after they stopped production??

It would. That middle example is just stunning, in fact they all are.

                  Thanks Tony!!
If theres one thing we have learnt about Deumer, its that their pieces were always top quality!!!

                    Hi Nigel.
Again news!? Amazing! How do you do it?
A beautiful addition to the collection!
Nice to see another example of Deumer.

                    Best regards.
