New addition to my fledgling '57 collection!

    Hello All,

I recently was lucky enough to land this beautifully worn, early S&L DKiG from forum member Eddie. I am delighted with it and am very impressed with its build quality - unfortunately, my photographs do not do it justice.
It is a very solid weighty piece and has just the right amount of wear and it fits in very well with my other '57 S&L crosses. The case is a modern repro but shows it off well and protects it in storage too.

Hope you all like it as much as I do.
    Happy Xmas to all!

    Regards - Danny

              I saw DKiG on estand.
I was curious where it will go!

              Best regards.

A wonderful looking DK in wonderful patinated condition. really love the black starburst that often was used on the earliest pieces.

So at first you completed the EK and DK area .... what´s coming next ?

                Fantastic start and well done

Nice DKiG Danny. It will be hard to stop now. There are still a lot more nice looking pieces to grab.
                      Regards,
                      Rudy

Danny that's the first 57er DK that's made me stop and think about owning one. Wonderful collection.

Many thanks everyone for all of your kind words of encouragement.

My main collecting focus is the iron cross in all of its eras and guises, so although technically the DK is related to the EK, I have to say, that through all of my years collecting, I had never really had a yearning to add a DK into my collection... I just did not like the look of that huge, in your face swastika. It looked to me, far more like a political award than one awarded for bravery in battle.
                          However...
This one (the '57) fits the bill perfectly - it has the very obvious EK connection so I am very pleased to have it in my collection.

An afterthought.... wouldn't these have looked so much better if the centre cross itself had the black core area glass enameled in the same style as the swastika on the TR version?

Nigel and Rüdiger, you both have asked what is coming next...

Well, the song remains the same, that is - I'm trying to stay focused on only EK related items. I have great difficulty in staying on this path as other items are forever trying to grab my attention, but my next search is for as pair of 1st and 2nd class '57 spanges, though in the meantime, I think I may be talking to Mathijs about a certain halbetui....!!!

                          Thanks again everyone,

                          Regards - Danny
