    My small 2013 57er collection

My S&L EKII from xmember has arrived and it's a beauty. A big thanks to Rudy for helping me with it. It has a lovely rattley core prepainted before assembly and reminds me of why everyone loves the earlier pieces. One day I'll get an RK to match my two earlier S&L EKs, but I'm still very glad to have scored the 1980s RK as well.

The EKII brings my EK collection to 3, it also completes the S&L trifector EKII, EKI and RK. It also brings the number of my 57er pieces to 7. Not exactly in the same league as the rest of you, but I'm as happy as a pig in mud.

I shall take some shameless beauty shots of the whole lot when I get some time later in the evening.

Photos. We begin with the S&L EKI which began my foray into the world of 57ers
followed by the Deumer KvKI which quickly followed.

Next came the Ost medal, another S&L which joins my other TR pair. The Ost medal is one of my favourite TR medals and it's a very nice affair in 57er guise as well.

Finally, to complete the year this beautiful S&L EKII has arrived today. The perfect balance of shiny with a nice patina beginning to form all over. The quality of this one is TR. It and the WWI KO and TR 65mm (my favourite) go very well together. Just need and 1870 and an 1815 to send me completely broke and finish the series.

I'm very fortunate to own all these on my limited budget and I wish to thank all those who gave me advice about what to buy and not, and were generous in passing on items from their collections.

Next year I'm going to try for an early RK. That will probably be the limit of it.

                          Hi Tony,

You have had a good year.
As another recent collector of '57 variants I can only echo the compliments of the others. Keep up the good work and enjoy your Christmas.

                          Regards - Danny

Thanks everyone. The funny think about collecting particularly the crosses is that I'm beginning to prefer the oakleaves to the swaz... Still there's a TR 65mm EKI out there with my name on it.... after the early RK that is.

Tony, a great collection of early 57'ers ! well done....you may only have five, but they are the five to have, quality oozes from these pieces ! If you continue to add such fine examples to your collection over the coming year you are going to have a superb collection and display !
                              Prost ! Steve.
